To support our philanthropic donations, funds are raised through Ways and Means projects and rental of our building. Each year, the Ways and means Committee plans and carries out the selected fund raisers. UWC members accept the responsibility and work together to achieve these goals by having annual events such as Bunco Party, Rummage Sale, Spring Tea, Bingo, Holiday Faire, and/or other events or fund raisers planned by the committee.
CLUB HISTORY
UWC is the senior organization in the community having been established in 1903 when Upland had a population of just a few hundred.
On June 19, 1903, thirteen women met for the purpose of organizing a woman's club. A preamble was signed by those present and the club was named the Woman's Literacy Club, in 1912 the name was changed to Upland Woman's Club. UWC joined the District and State Federation in 1908 and the General Federation in 1947. UWC was incorporated in 1925 and the beautiful clubhouse was built in 1926.
FEDERATION
UWC continues to be active in the Federation at all levels; district, state, and national, through attendance at reciprocities, conventions, district and area meetings, participation in projects and by reporting annually on the accomplishments of the Club. Membership means affiliation with the largest organization for women volunteers in the world. Members are committed to continuing the tradition of service and community involvement.
